No Sound from Optical Output (TOSLINK)

This guide helps you troubleshoot no sound issues when using the optical (TOSLINK) output on your Arylic device.

Before You Start

- Make sure your Arylic device is powered on and playing audio.

- Confirm the optical cable is securely connected to both the Arylic device and the external DAC / amplifier / soundbar.

- Make sure the external audio device is powered on and set to the correct optical input.

Step 1: Check the Optical Output Signal

1. Disconnect the optical cable from the external device.

2. Check for a red light at the optical output of the Arylic device.

3. If there is no red light, the optical output is not active.

*If there is no red light, continue with the steps below.

Step 2: Confirm the Playback Source on Arylic

1. Make sure the Arylic device is actively playing audio (Wi-Fi streaming, line-in, HDMI ARC, etc.).

2. Increase the volume and confirm the device is not muted.

*Optical output only sends audio when a valid source is playing.

Step 3: Check Audio Format Compatibility

1. Optical output from Arylic devices is PCM only.

2. Make sure the connected DAC or amplifier supports PCM input.

3. Devices that require Dolby Digital or DTS will result in no sound.

*Optical output does not carry surround formats.

Step 4: Check Output Settings on the External Device

1. Make sure the external DAC, amplifier, or soundbar is set to Optical / SPDIF input.

2. Disable any surround or special decoding modes on the external device.

3. Try switching the external device input away and back to optical to refresh the signal.

Step 5: Test with Another Cable or Device

1. Try a different optical cable to rule out cable issues.

2. Connect the Arylic optical output to another DAC or amplifier if available.

3. Test the same external device using a different source to confirm it is working.

Notes

1. Optical output volume may be fixed, depending on the device model and settings.

2. Optical output does not support microphone or control signals.

3. Some external devices mute optical input if no valid PCM signal is detected.

Troubleshooting Tips

1. Power off the Arylic device and the external audio device, unplug them for 30 seconds, then power them on again.

2. Update the Arylic device firmware if available.

3. Make sure no other output mode is overriding the optical output.

4. If there is still no sound, contact Arylic support with your device model and the connected equipment details.
