Noise

High noise floor during idle and music. According to Arylic this is normal behaviour. Otherwise good product.

Super amplifier

Very good quality of sound, no hiss, and low distortion.

DIY kits

These kits are pretty sick but I see a few major flaws for the DIY-er. This one specifically, lacking the little LED is almost impossible to connect. Secondly, the power supply wires should be accessible out of the back of the plate. I think alot of DIY'ers will want these to be portable battery powered units, mine is powered by a makita, but I did have to find a 5mm power adapter and cut it off, and plug it externally to the plate.
Overall, I am really stoked on this product, and I have about 6 total units. Not sure that I would buy this again over the Up2stream 2.1, as that has the remote control and LED built in.

Great 2.1 amp for DIYers

Do you want an all in one solution to stream music to your drivers? Then the Up2Stream Plate Amp 2.1 is a serious candidate. You just need to solder the supplied wires to the speakers and fix the plate to the cabinet. Once you power it and connect it to the mobile app you have a ton of option to make it sing: USB DAC, Bluetooth, DLNA, or one of many online audio streaming services that are included in the app. You can even listen to your obscure online radio that isn't listed by typing the URL.
The integrated DSP is a powerful tool to tune your sound: crossover, BSC, EQ, virtual bass, stereo widening, etc
With all this great features of course there are a few shortcomings:
- like for example it has a webserver with a nice interface that sometimes does not update. (eg. eq settings)
- connecting it to the Wi-Fi can be troublesome sometime because there's no status LED. Be sure to buy the led / button extension board; I didn't know about it at the purchase time
- I would like a pairing mode for the Bluetooth; right now it can be paired without any code. Imagine somebody connects to the speaker from outside the house and plays at full volume in the middle of the night :|
- sometimes it's easier to press a button then opening an app, so the remote would be more convenient - I also didn't know it was available as an accessory but I plan on buying it.
There's always something that needs improvement on a device and the more feature it has the harder it is to make everybody happy. I'm sure that the engineers at Arylic will try to improve things in future firmware updates.
